The teachers of St. Francis Moto Hope Academy on 2/3/2018 completed their one week training on integrating ICT in teaching and learning.
Kenya's education system has adopted the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) such as internet application, C.D-ROMs, videos technology and various computer applications and software programs to effect the new comprehensive curriculum. The transition from the 8-4-4 system of education to 2-6-6-3 system this year (2018) has seen the commencement of implementation at St. Francis from pre-primary 1,pre-primary2 and Grades 1 & 2.This new curriculum is already proving to be a more comprehensive and competency based curriculum. Digital literacy is inevitably paramount as I.C.T is the required tool for every level of the curriculum.
It is in this breath that the one week training for teachers was held with its running theme; Demystifying the embedding of digital technology in learning.
The topics covered included among others;
(1) TPACK T-Technology knowledge. P-Pedagogical knowledge.C-Content knowledge.
(2) Internet as a tool for teaching and learning.
(3) Actual presentation in classroom.
The teachers and school administration are very excited and eager to implement all that was learned as they look forward to more regular training in the near future.
